Tom Mathews is the great (x3) grandson of Thomas Matthews, a weaver from Ballymoney, County Antrim, who, together with his wife and ten children, left the cottage pictured below in 1840 and moved to southern Illinois to start a new life in America. This blog aims to tell their story and the stories of the many other ancestors I've met along the way.
